Singer, songwriter, performer, and vocal coach Laura Kaye has spent over two decades empowering young singers as part of the Electrify Your Choir component of Electrify Your Strings, a groundbreaking music education program she runs with world-renowned electric violinist Mark Wood, her husband and partner. Utilizing techniques developed during her own extensive career in the music industry, Laura coaches students to tap into their individual creative potential through self-expression, performance techniques, and more.
Laura is Vice President and co-owner of Electrify Your Strings (EYS), Wood Violins, Mark Wood Rock Orchestra Camp and Music Festival, and also heads the Mark Wood Music Foundation, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to support America’s young musicians and their underserved schools.
As an Artist Mentor, Laura's role involves working with choir students during the course of these all-inclusive workshops, coaching them for the performance, encouraging them to express and explore their individual creativity, and empowering them with leadership skills they can use in every aspect of their lives.
Laura has a lyricism and musicality all her own and is a rock and roll chanteuse whose take-no-prisoners voice invokes the likes of Steven Tyler and Aretha Franklin. In addition to her solo work, she is featured on many of Mark Wood’s recordings. As a recording artist and session vocalist, Laura has worked with legendary musicians such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Lenny Kravitz and Sean Lennon and has been featured on countless television shows and advertisements. Laura is also a solo musician who continues to write, record, and perform.
CONNECT WITH LAURA
"I wanted to send a note to say how incredibly grateful I am for you, your work, and your program. My kids were truly transformed. I have never seen them that engaged. I was also watching some of our rehearsal videos, compared with the performance videos and WOW what a difference! Beyond that, my kids are genuinely so much more excited about chorus. Your program and workshop have given me so much to think about as a teacher and what I can get out of my kids. I am so very grateful for that! You truly inspired my students, myself, and our COMMUNITY. That is something that I could never put a price tag on."
Nicole Guimaraes, Choir Director
